Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha received rain since Sunday morning due to a Western disturbance, while dense fog engulfed other parts on Monday morning.
According to the regional meteorological centre here, rain was recorded at the following places — Baragaon in Sundergarh district (2.4 mm), Sundergarh (2.1 mm), Khaprakhol in Balangir (2 mm), Dunguripali in Sonepur (2 mm), Balangir (1.5 mm), Bargarh (0.8 mm) and Sambalpur (0.1 mm).
Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri woke up to dense fog on Monday morning. A thick blanket of fog engulfed the twin cities, affecting traffic movement as visibility dropped.
Motorists reported dense fog in Buddha Park, Niladri Vihar and Patia, among other areas in the state capital. Dense fog was also reported in Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Khurda districts. In Puri, visibility reduced to 20 metres in the morning. The Jagannath temple in Puri was hidden behind a veil of fog in the morning.
Daringbadi continued to be the coldest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius on Monday night. Other places that recorded minimum temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius were Sundergarh (14), Keonjhar (13.6), Chandbali (13.7), Angul (14), Phulbani (12), Nayagarh (14), Titlagarh (14.8), Phulbani (12), Chatrapur (13), Rayagada (14) and Paralakhemundi (13).
