Rourkela: Eminent professors from different parts of the world took part in a first-of-its-kind international conference on ‘Applied analysis computation and mathematical modelling in Engineering (AACMME)’.
The conference was organized virtually by Department of Mathematics, NIT Rourkela, from February 24-26.
Prof. Rajiv Sekhar, Director IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Prof. Dr Nikolai Leonenko from Cardiff University, UK, were the chief guests of the virtual conference.
“Mathematics plays a great role in applications in particular in engineering. We cannot imagine our life without Mathematics,” Prof. Leonenko said during his speech.
Prof. Rajiv Sekhar mentioned that as an engineer, “our main job is to take technology from the lab to industrial scale and that is where mathematical modelling and numerical computation plays a very significant role.”
Among others who graced the virtual conference were professors from Brown University, USA; Universita Della Tusica, Italy; University of South Africa; Institute of Space Science, Romania; Polytechnic of Porto, Portugal; University of Iowa, USA; University of Putra Malaysia, Malaysia; Technische Universitat Darmstadt, Germany; Cardiff University, UK; Malayer University, Iran; University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Bulgaria; Istanbul Technical University, Turkey; IISc Bangalore; IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Dhanbad, Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad.
Prof. Santanu Saha Ray, head of the Department of Mathematics NIT Rourkela, was the conference Convener, while Prof. Suchandan Kayal from Department of Mathematics was co-convener.
