Well-Marked Low Pressure Weakens, Heavy Rain Warning For 14 Districts Of Odisha Today

Bhubaneswar: Isolated very heavy rain is likely to continue in Odisha on Monday, the India Meteorological Department said in its morning bulletin.

The intensity of downpour may decrease thereafter with the well-marked low pressure, having weakened into a low pressure. “The well-marked low pressure area over Southeast Jharkhand & adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and North Interior Odisha now lies as a low pressure area over South Jharkhand & neighbourhood.”

The weather agency has issued an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Sambalpur during next 24 hours. In addition, a yellow warning of heavy rain has been sounded for Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapada. Thunderstorm with lightning may also occur at one or two in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Khurda.

The state government has also issued an advisory to district collectors to be on alert in view of the heavy rain warning.

On Tuesday, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Deogarh. The yellow warning of heavy rainfall continue for Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore during the subsequent 24 hours.

There is no heavy rain warning thereafter, it added.
