Chennai: A bizarre incident has been reported from a National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) exam centre.
One of the centres for Sunday’s test in Chennai allegedly barred candidates from wearing bras, reported India Today.
A female journalist, who had gone to the exam centre in question, put out a tweet which baffled netizens.
The journalist, requesting anonymity, wrote that she observed a girl sitting in a corner, feeling shy and clinging to a book outside the centre. Asked if she was alright, the student told the journalist that she was feeling shy as she was allegedly asked not to wear a bra while writing the exam.
The journalist further posted she had offered the student a shawl, but the latter politely refused, saying that her brother was on way to pick her up.
The journalist was trolled for her post, forcing her to delete the tweet.
She later stated that she observed more than half of the female NEET aspirants were not wearing bras.
“Those who ask me obscene questions should ask the exam board if wearing a bra is allowed or not,” she tweeted.
Tamil Nadu’s Education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that chief minister MK Stalin has condemned such incidents.
Mahesh said he condemned the way invigilators check every student minutely, by removing their hairpins etc. and their dresses during NEET.
