West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Arrives In Bhubaneswar, Proceeds To Puri

Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday on a three-day visit to Odisha.

She was received at BIju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) by Odisha’s Minister of State for Home Tusharkanti Behera. A host of senior leaders and officials were present.

Soon after her arrival, the Mamata proceeded to Puri by road amid tight security. She will stay at Nirman Nivas in the seaside pilgrim town and visit Shree Jagannath Temple to offer prayers at the 12th century shrine on Wednesday.

Sources said this is Mamata’s private visit and no political activity is on agenda, though she is slated to meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Thursday before leaving for Kolkata.

Tight security arrangements have been made at Puri in view of Mamata’s visit.

Arrangements have been made by the Puri municipality authorities to pick up stray dogs and keen the roads clean. Stray dogs will be lodged at a veterinary hospital and arrangements have been made for their food and medical requirements, said an official of Puri Municipality.
