Bhubaneswar: Hot days and cool nights, a prolonged phenomenon in Odisha not observed in the recent past, will continue as the frequency of western disturbance has been more this year, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University, said in a release on Monday.
The movement of western disturbance towards the east, unlike previous years, was also frequent this year, it said.
The conditions, the release said, will support hot and cold alternately which meant that the days will be hotter due to the sun and nights will be cooler due to radiation cooling supported by clear sky condition and absence of wind from the sea.
The release said rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and hail was likely to occur in the districts of Bargarh, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Angul on February 15 and 16. The weather may turn bad in the coastal districts on February 16 and 17 and fog may occur in interior Odisha districts on February 14, it said.
