Bhubaneswar: The western disturbances with overcast sky and light rain has helped bring down the day temperature in some parts of Odisha.
Under this influence, some parts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj are likely to experience thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rain during the next 3 hours, the India Meteorological Department informed on Friday.
The MeT office has also issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning for one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Balasore, Jajpur and Bhadrak till 8.30 am on Saturday. Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri during this period.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely in some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagrh, Khurda, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Puri during the subsequent 24 hours.
However, there will be no large change in the day temperature in the state during the next 4-5 days as dry weather will prevail thereafter, it added.
On Thursday, Boudh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius followed Jharsuguda (36.6), Sundargarh (36.3), Nayagarh (36) and Sambalpur (35.9). Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 33.6 degree Celsius and 33.2 degree Celsius respectively.
While the sky remained partly cloudy in the coastal areas and adjoining regions, 3 mm of rain was recorded at Champua in Keonjhar, 2 mm at Jamada and 2.6 mm at Bahalda in Mayurbhanj.
