What Disgrace For Nation, Tweets Subramanian Swamy On Low Turnout For JEE Main Exam

New Delhi: BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday slammed the government and the authorities concerned for going ahead with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020 exams in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.

The former Union Cabinet Minister observed that out of the 18 lakh students who had downloaded the admit card for JEE, only eight lakh appeared for it. “What a disgrace for the nation,” he tweeted.

Netizens soon started retweeting Swamy’s post and accused the government of risking students’ life.

One Twitter user wrote: “Delhi students take your books, sit outside @PMOIndia office for the next 3 days and revise, don’t move until you get an answer like railway students. @11Petitioners #PrayForNEETStudents”

There were some who supported the government’s decision to conduct the crucial entrance examinations and demanded more exam centres.

JEE Main was conducted from September 1 to 6 amid widespread demands from politicians, parents and students to postpone the exam keeping the safety of applicants in mind.

As many as 85 per cent of applicants had downloaded the admit card within hours of its release.

It remains to be seen how many candidates actually turn up for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges. The exam is scheduled for September 13.
