Mumbai: Of the 181 persons on board the Jeju Air flight that crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea, there were only two survivors – both crew members.
They were destined to live – in what must be one of the biggest miracles.
Rescued from the tail-end of the aircraft, the two flight attendants Lee and Kwon were rushed to a hospital in Seoul, and were reported to be in stable condition with head and ankle injuries.
The traumatised duo, however, could not recall the tragic accident, reported The Korea Times.
Asked to describe his injuries, all that the 32-year-old Lee managed to say was, “What happened? Why am I here?”
Lee said he could not recall what happened after the plane landed but remembered that he had fastened his seatbelt before the landing.
“It seems he was in a near-panic state, possibly worried about the safety of the plane and passengers,” a hospital official told The Korea Times.
Lee had a fractured left shoulder and minor head injury.
Teenaged Kwon, the other surviving flight attendant, also did not remember the crash.
According to doctors, Kwon had a scalp laceration and a fractured ankle. She was undergoing tests for abdominal injuries after complaining of pain.
“While her life is not in danger, we haven’t had time to ask her about the crash,” the hospital representative told The Korea Times.
