To contain the spread of COVID-19 misinformation, WhatsApp has introduced limits of frequently forwarded messages to one chat at a time.
The Facebook-own app highlights frequently forwarded messages that have been shared five times or more. A feature that is currently available on beta versions lets users verify forwarded messages.
Frequently forwarded messages have a double tick on top.
Earlier, WhatsApp limited forwarding messages to five chats at a time and this resulted in 25 per cent decrease in forwarded messages according to the company.
WhatsApp recently launched its coronavirus information hub, and has partnered with the Indian government and state governments to launch coronavirus WhatsApp chatbots for users to get genuine information quickly.
