Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is working on a new search filter for its chat platform, according to a report in WaBetaInfo. This feature will help users search for messages by date.
It’s being developed for both iOS and Android versions of the messaging app, and i
s in ‘Alpha’ stage of development. Release date is not known as yet.
WhatsApp is also testing ShareChat integration, which will add a dedicated media player for videos hosted on the popular video-hosting platform. This feature will be similar to the YouTube videos played in Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode in chat, without being redirected to a browser window.
Some new storage tools are also being tested.
‘Search by date’ feature will be available by tapping on the calendar icon while using the in-chat search feature. This will enable users to easily search for a message by choosing a specific date.
New storage management tools are in early stages of development and will take a few months to be rolled out for users.
WhatsApp is also testing a new bubble colour for the dark mode which could be available in the near future.
