Mumbai: Late Smita Patil, who was born on October 17, had carved a niche for herself in Bollywood with her versatile acting skills and charming looks.
A few years ago on her birthday, Amitabh Bachchan, who has worked with Smita in several films, shared an incident remembering the actress.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, recalling the incident, Amitabh said that during the making of ‘Coolie’, Smita had called him in the middle of the night at around 2 am to check on his heath.
Reportedly, Smita had a premonition ahead of Big B’s accident on the sets on ‘Coolie’. So, she had called the actor to check if he was fine.
The very next day, Amitabh had a terrible accident on the sets of ‘Coolie’ and he landed at the hospital. The actor had to undergo multiple surgeries and was even declared clinically dead for a few minutes before being put on the ventilator.
“I was in Bangalore shooting for Coolie. Late into the night at around 2 am I received call in my hotel room. The receptionist informed me that it was Smita Patil on the line. I was shocked as I had never spoken or talked to her at such a time. Thinking that it would be important one, I answered,” said Amitabh, talking about the incident.
“Smita asked me if I was alright and in good health. I answered yes and she said that she just had a bad dream about me and that’s the reason behind calling up so late in the night. The next day I had my accident,” he said.
Amitabh and Smita have worked in films such as ‘Namak Halaal’ and ‘Shakti’.
