New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday sharpened his attack on the Election Commission, demanding to know which official inside the poll panel directed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to alter the online Form 6 — the application for new voter enrolment — in what he termed an “illegal” change, and whether the company was pressured into doing it.

Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh alleged that the modification to Form 6 was masterminded by “the PM-HM duo”.

Gandhi questioned whether TCS had been pressurised into carrying out the change.

“The online Form 6 was changed illegally, as the EC’s own Commissioners have recorded. Who at the ECI ordered Tata Consultancy Services to make that change?” Gandhi said in a post on X.

“Who at TCS signed off on it? And were they pressured into doing it?” he asked.

Ramesh Pins Blame On CEC, Modi–Shah

Appending his comment to Gandhi’s post, Ramesh claimed, “Form 6 changes were introduced by the CEC unconstitutionally in mid-July 2026 to remove Gen Z voters from the electoral roll. Clearly, the move was orchestrated by the PM-HM (Narendra Modi-Amit Shah) duo.”

Opposition Ramps Up SIR Protests

The Congress leaders’ comments came a day after the opposition INDIA bloc unveiled a coordinated protest calendar over purported irregularities in the electoral process, including district-level marches and five large rallies, as reported by The New Indian Express.

The alliance also called for all future elections to be held using ballot papers and urged the Supreme Court to fast-track petitions relating to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged electoral malpractices.

Leaders from 19 opposition parties met for over three-and-a-half hours and agreed that opposition MPs would march to the Election Commission on October 6.

The opposition will also meet President Droupadi Murmu to highlight alleged irregularities in the revision of voter lists.

The INDIA bloc also discussed its demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and said it would keep up the campaign until he is removed.

The meeting followed a report by The Indian Express that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had logged objections at least 14 times in 10 months against decisions and orders linked to the SIR process, saying these were taken without their knowledge or recommendation.

In response to questions over the objections, the Election Commission said differences of opinion are a normal part of internal discussions and that all its orders have full legal backing and follow statutory procedures.
