Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has met former CM Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The Chief Minister stayed at Naveen’s residence for 10 to 15 minutes. Naveen recently returned home after receiving treatment at a private hospital. Previously, he had returned from Mumbai after undergoing a surgery at a hospital there. Mohan Majhi met him and inquired about his health. However, there is talk that the two leaders discussed not only Naveen’s health but other issues too. Political analysts and observers are sharing their opinions on the strategy behind the CM’s meeting with Naveen.
Met Naveen for this!
After Naveen felt unwell last week, a medical team examined his health and later he was admitted to hospital. Ever since the news of Naveen’s illness came to light, there has been a lot of discussion everywhere. Common people wished speedy recovery for Naveen, who was the Chief Minister of the state for 24 years. Naveen was all over social media. The Naveen craze again gripped the state. Now, it is said that the Chief Minister met him to neutralise it.
Meeting before the VP election
As the Vice-Presidential election is slated to be held after a few days, political heat is being generated all over regarding the major exercise. Both the NDA and the India Alliance are busy gathering support for their candidates. In such a situation, the BJD, which is not in any alliance, is being kept under watch. Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken to Naveen Patnaik and sought BJD’s support. Therefore, it is assumed that Mohan Majhi may have discussed support for the NDA candidate with Naveen.
Strategy before the Assembly!
The monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly is going to start from September 18. The cooperation of the main opposition party BJD is necessary for the smooth functioning of the house. In the last session, the Congress MLAs had created uproar in the house. Therefore, this time the government may want to take the BJD into confidence. The Chief Minister may have raised the issue of cooperation in the Assembly during his talks with Naveen. While the state BJP is witnessing factional strife, a soft approach from the opposition will help Mohan Majhi in running the government.
When the BJD was in power in the state, it supported the NDA government at the centre on almost all major issues. After the change of power in the state, the BJD took the seat of the main opposition party. Despite mild opposition in the state, the party’s voice at the centre has been soft. This was also proven during the Wakf Amendment Bill. Meanwhile, the BJP also wants to take the BJD along. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself called and inquired about Naveen’s health. And now Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has met Naveen.
