Puri: A pal of gloom descended on the family of senior servitor of Jagannath Temple Premananda Das Mahapatra on Tuesday as his wife passed away within 48 hours of the former’s death.
Das Mahapatra was admitted in the ICR of the district headquarters hospital in the wee hours of Sunday morning after he suddenly fell ill. While undergoing treatment, he suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at 5.30 am.
As many as eight servitors of the temple have succumbed to COVID-19 so far. Besides, 400 servitors have been quarantined after they tested positive for coronavirus.
