Lucknow: Outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh may be facing the heat generated by leading wrestlers’ prolonged protest against him alleging sexual harassment.
But despite two FIRs against him by seven female wrestlers, and an ongoing probe, BJP’s six-time Member of Parliament (MP) has remained defiant and repeatedly denied the allegations of sexual harassment.
On Sunday, Brij Bhushan asserted that he will again contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from his constituency Kaiserganj in east Uttar Pradesh.
“2024 ka chunav Kaiserganj se ladoonga, ladoonga, ladoonga (I will definitely contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Kaiserganj),” he said, repeating the word ‘ladoonga’ (contest) thrice in response to mediapersons’ queries on whether he will contest the 2024 polls from his native place Gonda or Ayodhya.
Brij Bhushan was speaking after a rally in Gonda district to mark the completion of nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre.
On the wrestlers’ protest, he said he was waiting for the court’s verdict in the case.
The protesting wrestlers said on Saturday they would resume their agitation if the investigation into charges of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan aren’t completed by June 15, as promised by Union minister Anurag Thakur.
