Mumbai: Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede declared that he will keep fighting for justice after Delhi High Court rejected his defamation plea against Aryan Khan’s ‘The Ba***Ds Of Bollywood’.
Ruling that the Delhi HC lacks the territorial jurisdiction to hear his defamation plea against the Netflix web series, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav directed the IRS officer to present his case before a competent court.
“It has not been dismissed. I have been asked to approach a proper forum. Let the order be uploaded, then I will take a call on when to do it. This has not demotivated me at all, it’s just an order to approach the appropriate court. I will do the needful and keep fighting for justice,” Wankhede told HT City.
In his petition, Wankhede alleged that the web series, written and directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan, targeted him to malign his reputation and settle personal scores following the star kid’s arrest in the 2021 drugs case.
Wankhede had sued Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies and Netflix for defamation and sought Rs 2 crore in damages.
The IRS officer’s lawsuit also claimed that a character in the series makes an obscene gesture after reciting ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and it amounts to grave violation of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
