Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set change the name of the bus service scheme under the much talked about Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI).
Giving this information, Transport, Mines and Steel Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena told reporters on Saturday that the LAccMI scheme will now be renamed as ‘Mukhyamantri Bus Seva’ and all necessary steps taken to ensure seamless public transport to the people.
Stating that discussion in this regard has already been made, he said the service with thorough restructuring will be implemented soon and no party symbol would be used in the scheme.
The Minister stressed that all the schemes of the state government are meant for the welfare of the people and no party symbol will find place in any of the official programmes. We give strong assurance to the people to provide bus service.
Affirming the government’s commitment to providing reliable bus service to the people, the Minister said it has been decided not to use any party symbol and rename LAccMI scheme as ‘Mukhyamantri Bus Seva’ after thorough analysis of its functioning.
“Detailed discussion in this regard has already been made and the scheme will be implemented soon,” he said.
The Minister further emphasised that buses will run from every block of the state on the occasion of the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in the pilgrim town of Puri.
The move to rename and restructure the LAccMi scheme comes amid allegations of poor function of the service, which sought to provide a seamless public transport network from panchayats to the state capital.
