Will Odisha Present An Interim Budget This Time?
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government may go for an interim budget this time in view of the forthcoming panchayat, municipal and corporation polls in the state.
Informing this, Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said it is mandatory for the Finance Minister to place a Budget before the House, but there are no clear-cut instructions either from the office of the Governor or state government to the Assembly with regard to holding the budget session.
The discussion on presenting this year’s budget is still underway considering that the Municipality and NAC elections will be held after Panchayat elections.
The three-tier panchayat elections for 853 Zilla Parishad seats, 91,916 Wards and 6,794 panchayats are scheduled to be held in five phases on February 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24. Counting of votes will take place on February 26, 27 and 28.
