Bhubaneswar: After remaining a tolerable below 40 degree Celsius for some days, the mercury again soared up to 40.4 degree in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
According to an evening bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city was the hottest day in the country with maximum temperature of 40.4 degree Celsius and minimum 20 degree. The Odisha capital recorded 40.4 degree on February 27.
While Talcher was the second hottest place in the state with 38.7 degree, Malkangiri recorded 38.5 degree on the day. Angul, which had registered highest 39.1 degree Celsius on Friday, was cooler with 37.7 degree.
The IMD has forecast no change in maximum and minimum temperature in the states for next 4-5 days. Besides, maximum temperature is likely to remain above normal by 3-4 degree at many places, it added.
