With No New Cases In Last 14 Days, New Zealand Prepares To Lift All Restrictions
Wellington: New Zealand currently has just one active coronavirus case, who is expected to be declared recovered after 10 days from having symptoms. The country has had no new COVID-19 case for 14 days in a row now and is readying to reopen.
Though the island nation had lifted several restrictions in mid-May, social distancing norms and ban on gatherings were still in place.
Restaurants, malls and stores have already been allowed to reopen with up to 10 people.
Since the onset of the pandemic in New Zealand, a total of 1,500 positive cases were detected and 22 deaths reported due to coronavirus.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern recently announced that all restrictions could be lifted from next week, barring international travel.
