Bhubaneswar: In an alarming spike in COVID-19 daily cases in the city, the number of infected persons not only increased by more than 35% over previous day but also crossed 1,000 on Wednesday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 1044 positive cases were detected on the day against 773 cases on Tuesday.
Of the new cases, 825 were local contacts and 219 quarantine. As many as 447 patients recovered from the disease on the day.
Among local contacts, highest 64 cases were reported from Patia, followed by 49 from Nayapalli, 47 from Khandagiri, 42 from Chandrasekharpur and 39 from Old Town.
With the day’s addition, the total COVID-19 positive cases have gone up to 42,445 while there are 6,493 active cases in the city at present.
