Woman Critical After Being Thrown Off Moving Vehicle For Resisting Sexual Assault Bid In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A woman was critically injured as a biker offered her a lift and allegedly threw her off the speeding vehicle when she resisted his attempt to sexually assault her in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The incident reportedly took place in Choudwar area. The woman has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where her condition was stated to be critical.

Sources said the woman from Bhubaneswar, who had been to Nischintakoili to tie rakhi to her brother, was waiting for a bus to return on Wednesday night when the accused approached her with an offer to give a lift to Cuttack.

Accepting the offer, the woman also gave him Rs 300 for fuel. However, the man tried to take a forest road after travelling some distance, raising suspicion in the mind of the woman, who tried to stop him. However, the accused threatened and attempted to molest sexually assault her.

As the woman shouted for help, the man threw her off his bike and sped away. The woman, who was lying in a pool of blood with critical injuries, was spotted by locals who informed the local cops. She was who rushed her to the hospital.

The woman, who was rescued from a deserted place between Tangi and Choudwar, is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital and a thorough investigation into the incident is in progress in coordination with the Sadar police, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said.
