Woman Delivers Baby Girl In Train At Jaleswar Station
Balasore: A woman passenger delivered a baby in Secunderabad-Guwahati Express near Jaleswar railway station, on Monday evening.
The woman, identified as 37-year-old Arshudha Ogha, boarded the train with her husband at Secunderabad railway station for Kishanganj in Bihar.
An expectant mother, she started having labour pain while on the train which had halted at the Jaleswar, around 6.30 pm, due to rail roko stir in West Bengal by the tribals demanding introduction of Alchik language in school and colleges.
Her husband Sk Sirajuddin approached Jaleswar Station Manager Khagendra Mandal for help. She gave birth to a girl baby in the train wagon number S-5 at 7.35 pm with the help of a local private clinic nurse Kaminipatra.
The condition of both the woman and the baby is stated to be stable. “They are now in the train after proper treatment,” said Mandal.
