Keonjhar: In yet another case of proper healthcare facility eluding people of Odisha, a pregnant woman had to deliver a baby on the verandah of Keonjhar Hospital here due to shortage of bed in the ward, late on Thursday.
According to sources, a woman of Asanabahala village in Anandpur sub-division complained of labour pain and was brought to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital by her family members at around 7 pm.
In the absence of bed, she had to stay put on the verandah of the hospital and delivered a baby boy at around 3 am.
If this was not enough, the hospital employees allegedly took Rs 700 for post-delivery treatment.
Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Swapneswar Gadanayak said that the woman has been allotted a bed and her condition is stable now.
“We will take action in the matter after investigation,” he added.
