Puri: A woman died after she reportedly jumped from the Singhadwar ‘Gumuta’ (entrance arch) of Jagannath Temple in Puri on Sunday.
She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Her identity is yet to be ascertained.
The incident has again raised eyebrows about the security arrangements at the temple as questions are being raised on how did she reach the Singhadwar ‘Gumuta’.
According to a few servitors, the woman reached the ‘Gumuta’ by walking on the boundary wall from Anandabazar.
Police have begun investigations.
