Baripada: A woman died after a mud-baked wall collapsed at Palasmundali village under Moroda police station limits in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday while she was breast-feeding her six-month-old baby.
Victim Kanchini Behera’s two daughters were sleeping beside her when the wall crumbled. Her brother who rushed to the house rescued the two daughters, the eldest being four-year-old, but could not save Kanchini. She had been residing at her father’s house when the mishap occured.

On receipt of information, panchayat extensioon officer Purushottam Sahu reached the spot and handed over an assistance of Rs 2,000 to the family under Harischandra scheme. Police recovered the body from a heap of mud and made arrangements for shifting it for postmortem.
