Berhampur: Police recovered the body of a woman engineer in Bhanjanagar town in Ganjam district on Thursday.
The woman was found hanging from the ceiling in a room, police said.
The incident came to light when a neighbour of the deceased, Landei Sahi, informed police after a stench emanated from the engineer’s house.
Police rushed to the spot and found the house was locked from inside. They then broke open the door and found the woman’s body hanging from the ceiling.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman may have died four to five days ago.
Police have sent the body for post mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The deceased was working as a junior engineer in the Rural Development Department of Bhanjanagar division.

While her family stays in Berhampur, she was staying alone in a rented house in Bhanjanagar for about a year.
