Balangir: Police on Friday identified the woman, whose body was recovered from a field near Satamile Chhak at Keserkela village in Puintala Tehshil in Odisha’s Balangir district the previous day, as Sanjukta Harpal, a Mission Shakti CRP employee from Boudh.
Her husband, Chaka Mahananda, identified the body. They are resident of Barigoba village under Kantamal police limits in Boudh district. He told the media that she did not return home after work on Wednesday. “It’s evident she was murdered. I want justice,” said Mahananda.
Meanwhile, Balangir police have arrested one person suspected of being involved in the murder. Sanjukta was allegedly being used by him for Ganja trading, sources said.
On Thursday, owner of the land close to Balangir-Sonpeur Highway spotted the woman with her face on the ground and blood stains on her cloths, indicating that she might have been murdered and the body later dumped in the field.
“We were informed around 10 am about a body lying in a field at Keserkela village. The woman would be in the age group of 30-35 years. Scientific team and dog squad have been called in. We are collecting evidence,” an officer of Punitala police station had earlier told the media.
Balangir ASP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo was also seen on the spot, sources added.
