New Delhi: A woman allegedly killed her neighbour’s three-year-old son after being advised by an occultist in a desperate attempt to conceive a child.
The woman stuffed the kid’s body in a plastic bag and dumped it on the roof of a building in northwest Delhi’s Rohini, the cops said on Sunday.
The woman, 25, was arrested. She told police that she was under a lot of pressure to conceive a child and her in-laws and relatives taunted her which drove her to approach an occultist who advised her to sacrifice a child to please the gods, police was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
She then killed her neighbour’s son and stuffed his body in the plastic bag, the police said.
According to police, Neelam Gupta got married in 2013 but couldn’t give birth to a child despite consulting several doctors. Forced, the woman approached a occultist back in her native village Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh who suggested her to sacrifice a child if she wanted to conceive.
The crime came to the fore on Saturday after the missing boy’s parents approached the cops with a complaint. A thorough search followed to trace the child, an officer said.
During the search operation, a bag was noticed on the roof of the adjacent house. The body of the missing child with injury marks on his neck was recovered from the bag. Prima facie observation revealed that the boy was strangled, according to the senior police officer.
During questioning, Neelam initially tried to mislead the police but later confessed to the crime that she had killed the boy when he was playing alone on the roof, the cop added.
