Was Money For Land Purchase Reason Behind Pregnant Woman’s ‘Murder’ In Odisha?

Bhubaneswar: A pregnant woman was found dead in her house under mysterious circumstances in Balianta, on the outskirts of the capital city on Wednesday.

The woman has been identified as Suchismita Sahu of Nayagarh district. She was five  months pregnant, informed her family members.

Alleging murder, her parents lodged a complaint at Balianta police station. They stated that Suchismita was married to one Subir Kumar Muduli of Jajpur district in December, 2019 and they were staying in Pahala area. Both were employed in IOCL, her parents said.

Her mother said Suchismita had called up to complain about a fight between the couple last night. Sometime later, Subir called his in-laws to inform that she had locked herself up in a room. When Suchismita’s parents reached Pahala they found her unconscious and rushed her to Capital Hospital where she died.

Suchismita’s brother alleged that her in-laws had asked her to get money from my father for payment against a land in Cuttack’s CDA area which was around Rs 18 lakh. Suchismita’s father gave them Rs 1.5 lakh last week to avoid any dispute, her brother said and alleged the involvement of Subir, his parents and 2 sisters. Subir had also bought a house sometime back worth Rs 80 lakh and was deep in debts, he said.

Meanwhile, her in-laws said she consumed poison and they had no involvement in the murder.
