Berhampur: Police on Thursday arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her paramour in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Speaking to media persons, IIC of Beguniapada police station in the district Purna Chandra Pradhan said the body of Garib Das, a resident of Angargaon village was found from a farmland of Gilinda village on January 29. Garib’s wife Sudensha Das had filed a police complaint alleging murder of her husband.
The police had registered a case and launched an investigation. While checking the mobile phone call records of Sudensha as part of the investigation, the police came to know that she had talked with Pankaj Jena over phone the entire night on the day when Garib’s body was found.
On suspicion, police detained Sudeshna and Pankaj and questioned them. During interrogation, Sudeshna confessed that Pankaj was her paramour and both of them had killed Garib by smashing his head with a stone. Later, they dumped his body on the farmland near Gilinda.
The police have seized the stone used in the crime and recovered Garib’s mobile phone from Sudeshna. Both Sudeshna and Pankaj were and forwarded to court on Thursday, nearly 2 months after Garib’s murder.
