Keonjhar: A woman was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws at Ghodabeda Sahi under Telakoi police limits in Keonjhar district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sabita Mahanta, wife of Tuna Mahanta.

Father of the deceased, Lambodar Mahanta, has lodged a police complaint alleging that Tuna had an extra-marital relationship and for this reason, they set her ablaze.

On the other hand, Sabita’s in-laws claimed that she committed suicide by pouring kerosene on her body. They also tried to rescue her, but in vain.

On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.

Based on the complaint, Telakoi police have detained the woman’s husband and her in-laws for interrogation.
