Berhampur: A woman and her son died of electrocution while one of their relatives was injured while trying to save them in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday.
As per reports, 50-year-old Nibasi Pahan and her 23-year-old son Jitendra Pahan of Logha village near Khallikot police station had gone to roof of their house to water some plants in the afternoon. Accidentally they came in contact with a live electricity wire.
Their relative Bhagi Pahan, who was also present there, rushed to pull them out of the electric wire. But he failed to save the mother and son who died on the spot. Bhagi sustained critical injuries in the rescue attempt.
The villagers rushed Bhagi to Community Health Centre (CHC) Khallikot. Later, he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as his condition deteriorated.
On being informed, a police team from Khallikot went to Logha and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
