Bhadrak: A woman was stoned to death by a youth while her daughter sustained injuries in the incident at Talachitha village under Dhamnagar police limits in Bhadrak district late on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Bhaktilata Beuria, wife of Rabi Beuria.
The youth, identified as Gopinath Mohanty of the same village, knocked on the door of Rabi’s house. When his wife opened the door, the accused attacked her with a grinding stone. She died on the spot after receiving grievous injuries on her head, hands and other parts of the body.
Hearing screams, Bhaktilata’s daughter Rojalin rushed to the spot to save her mother but she also became a victim of the attack.
“After thrashing me severely, the youth tied my hands and legs and fled the spot immediately. He had telephoned us from my father’s mobile number before entering our house. My father was not present in the house when the incident took place. He has not returned to the house till now,” Rojalin told police.
