Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a woman died after being trampled by a tusker at a village in Hindol area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.
As per sources, the incident took place at Tamanda village under Hindol forest range in the morning. The deceased has been identified as Sushma Pradhan.
The woman was walking with her husband and their seven-year-old daughter to nearby Khuntujhari village when the pachyderm appeared before them. The tusker reportedly dragged the woman with its trunk and trampled her, while her husband and daughter narrowly escaped.
On receiving the information, a team from Bhapur police outpost and forest officials rushed to the site and recovered the body for further investigation.
Forest officials are monitoring the movement of the elephant in the area to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
