New Delhi: A woman passenger, a resident of the Republic of Liberia was arrested by customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport arrested a woman passenger and recovered 947 grams of cocaine from her possession. The seized drug is valued at Rs 13.26 crore.
The woman, Francess T Sumo, was intercepted after her arrival at Delhi IGI airport from Addis Ababa on Monday, India Today reported.
During a personal search of the passenger, it was found that the bag contained 11 kurtas with many large buttons stitched randomly, which looked unusual. Subsequently, a button was cut off and a white-coloured substance was found concealed in it which was later confirmed to be cocaine. Thereafter, all the buttons were cut open, the report added.
A total of 272 buttons were recovered which contained 947 grams of cocaine worth Rs 13.26 crore. The woman passenger was arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
