Deogarh: A woman employee of a finance company was allegedly bludgeoned to death outside her office building at Pradhanpat area of Odisha’s Deogarh town on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rita Sahu, a resident of Kuchinda in Sambalpur district.
According to sources, two persons attacked Rita with wooden plank and knife while she leaving the office and heading towards her rented house on a scooter around 11 pm.
Rita, who worked at SKS Finance, was about to return to her rented accommodation on her scooter at midnight when two unidentified persons arrived at the place and attacked her with knives. After Rita fell down, the assailants crushed her head with stone and fled. She was rushed to the district headquarters hospital by staff of the company but was declared dead by the doctors there.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the body for postmortem.
Deogarh SP Pramod Rath visited the crime spot this morning. An investigation is underway. However, police are still clueless about the reason behind the murder.
