Bhubaneswar: A woman Maoist commander from Odisha surrendered before Dantewada police in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
She was identified as Shyamala. She had been associated with Baipariguda LOP in Koraput district since 2008. The hardcore Maoist, carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head, was allegedly involved in several cases of violence in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, police sources said.
Shyamala decided to give up arms as she was fed up with the violent activities of the ultras, the sources added.
