Women Playing Crucial Role In University’s Progress, Says SOA VP Saswati Das

Bhubaneswar: Women have the capability of becoming the backbone of any system and they have been playing a vital role in the progress of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University,” university Vice-President Saswati Das said at an event organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“The contribution made by women employees of SOA has been enormous and they have set examples through their diligence,” she said.

According to SOA, women comprise around 55 per cent of its total student strength while 40 per cent of the university’s faculty and other employees are women.

Controller of Examination Manjula Das said women are playing significant roles in different fields today while contributing to the success of men in equal measure.

The gathering was also addressed by Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital Sanghamitra Mishra, Head of the Department of Computer Science of ITER Debahuti Mishra, Meera Das and Anita Panda, Sports Officer Sunita Barma, and in-charge of SOA Community Radio Honey Patnaik.

The programme was also attended by Dean of Institute of Dental Sciences Neeta Mohanty, faculty members, women journalists and other employees of its media organisations.
