Puri: On the pretext of giving a ride home from the college, a lecturer allegedly raped one of his students in the district.
Though the incident took place on Thursday, it came to light on Sunday after the victim filed a police complaint.
As per the complaint filed at Balanga police station, the student was about to leave for her house after the classes were over when the lecturer of political science offered her to drop her in her vehicle.
Instead of going to her her house, the lecturer took the girl to a secluded place on the canal bank and raped her, the complainant alleged. After returning home, she fell sick and informed her family members about the incident. The victim’s family admitted her in the local hospital.
After they filed a complaint, police took her for medical examination and recorded her statement at Nimapada court. They have also launched a manhunt to trace the lecturer who has been absconding.
