The Word ‘Lust’ Misused: Karan Johar
Mumbai: Encapsulating the essence of modern love, lust and its complexities, trailer of the upcoming Netflix movie ‘Lust Stories’ has hit the internet and people are finding it absolutely promising. This film brought together Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap after the 2013 movie ‘Bombay Talkies’.
‘Lust Stories’ stars Radhika Apte, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Akash Thosar, Neha Dhupia and Bhumi Pednekar, and is a collection of four short stories.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua, the movie will release on Netflix on June 15. At the trailer launch, Karan and Zoya explained how the film defies various taboos related to love and lust. “In terms of lust, some people have depicted it beautifully and some people are just crass. It has been in our films. People are now being more open,” said Zoya.
Karan, however, is of the opinion that the term ‘lust’ has been misused. “One has not shown lust sensitively. Both love and lust co-exist. But many times it had a bad influence on society. We are responsible bunch of filmmakers and have used it in a right way. Lust cannot always be gauged by negativity; it is a bonafide emotion,” he said.
