Puri: Work on Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor (SJHC) project is likely to resume from September and will be completed in the next one and a half years, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra informed on Thursday.
The SJHC project is being undertaken under the Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage & Architecture at Puri (ABADHA) scheme, which envisages making Puri a world-class tourist and religious centre. The project aims at providing an expansive and unobstructed path around the ‘meghanada pacheri’, dividing the corridor into nine layers. The earlier deadline for the completion of the project was February 2022.
Mohapatra informed that the tendering process for the 75-metre corridor project was approved in the last Cabinet meeting and the Works Department secretary has sought the permission of the Culture Ministry for the same.
“The Ministry is expected to clear the project and the work will resume from September,” he added, after reviewing the progress of the ongoing Shree Setu, the parking lot at Jagannath Ballav and renovation of Swargadwar.
He also attended the first meeting of the newly constituted Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
