Works On 6-Lane Road Along Daya West Canal In Bhubaneswar To Start Soon
Bhubaneswar: In order to ease traffic movement on various routes in Bhubaneswar, the process for expansion of the road along west canal of river Daya would start soon.
It was revealed at a high-level meeting presided by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra in Bhubaneswar on Friday. On completion of the expansion work, Barang in Cuttack and Retang in Jatni will get a direct connecting road. As a result, vehicular traffic from Cuttack-Puri road to Ravi Talkies and Jaydev Vihar to Nandankanan will come down.
Giving the details on the project, Vir Vikram Yadav, principal secretary, Works department said the 38-km road having six lanes would be constructed in 4 stretches along the Daya west bank. As per the plan, 13.74 km will be completed in 1st stretch, 7.29 km in second, 3.16 km in third and 13.84 km in fourth stretch, he added.
Yadav said the project would be executed in coordination with the Water Resources department after ensuring rehabilitation of displaced people as per government policy.
Besides reducing the distance to different places in the city, the road would ensure seamless communication to Bomikhal, GGP Colony, Laxmisagar, Old Town, Kapileswar, Sundarpada, Patia and Mancheswar railway station.
Senior officers of different departments were present at the meeting.
