Bhubaneswar: The Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput held a workshop on ‘Sustainable Development and Public Policy: Recent Trends’ at its main campus at Sunabeda. Dr Charudutta Panigrahi, Founder and Chairman, FIDR, Gurugram, Haryana was the chief guest.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof I. Ramabrahmam, Vice Chancellor, CUO.
In his inaugural address, he emphasised on the active involvement of the students of CUO for the inclusive development of the society. He explained that the government, along with civil society, has a greater role for sustainable development. He cited that excessive exploitation of mining resources affect livelihood. He expressed hope that the workshop will pave the road map for the development of the course curriculum for sustainable development and public policy in CUO in the coming days, said a press release.
Prasanta Behera, Workshop Coordinator & Head I/C, Dept of Economics, introduced the objectives of the workshop.
Others present on the occasion were Prof Sharat Kumar Palita, Dean, SBCNR, CUO, Prof P Durga Prasad, visiting professor, Dept of Sociology, Prof BP Barik, visiting professor, Dept of Sociology and Prof Bhagabat Patro.
