Ahmedabad: Australia tightened their grip on the ODI World Cup final by dismissing Team India’s top-scorer KL Rahul in the 41st over.
The elegant right-hander, who came into bat after India lost Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in quick succession, helped steady the ship along with Virat Kohli.
Usually a strokeful batter, Rahul played totally risk-free cricket and safe cricket on a sluggish pitch where it wasn’t easy to break free. The Australian bowlers were extremely disciplined while their fielding was superb as well.
Rahul hit just one boundary in his 107-ball knock, scoring 66, before edging Mitchell Starc to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis.
Mohammad Shami then nicked one to Inglis, again off Starc as India plunged to 211/7 after 43.4 overs.
