World Physiotherapy Day: High End Limbs Provided To Beneficiaries In Keonjhar For 1st Time In Odisha
Keonjhar: For the first time in Odisha, 3 High End Limbs along with 15 Electrical Wheelchairs and 10 Artificial Limbs were distributed by Keonjhar district administration among the beneficiaries on the occasion of ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ on Thursday.
Keonjhar district collector who is also Managing Trustee of district mineral fund (DMF) distributed the gadgets at a function organised at Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) in the town. Project director, DRDA-cum-CEO, DMF; Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO); District Social Security Officer (DSSO) and other district officials were present.
The high-end limbs come with benefits of having carbon fiber socket which is lighter in weight and more durable. It has silicon liner with locking for extra comfort and energy storing carbon foot for extra comfort during walking and provides ground reaction force to ease in walk on uneven terrain and maximum stability. It ensures no risk of skin ulcers compared to normal liners.
Under DMF Sakshyam, ARC Ranki Keonjhar is operational and has provided around 723 robotic therapy sessions, distributed around 133 motorised wheelchairs, 120 artificial limbs and has around 59 patients registered for robotic therapy exercises.
The district administration through DMF Sakshyam aims at providing entire spectrum of rehabilitation services for enhancing the quality of life for the differently abled people, elderly and for betterment of lives of people in Keonjhar.
