XIMB Hostel In Bhubaneswar Declared Micro-Containment Zone After 30 Students Test COVID Positive

Bhubaneswar: A hostel of a premier B-school in Odisha capital was declared a micro-containment zone on Saturday after more than 30 students tested positive for COVID-19.

According to sources, the infected students of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), have been kept in isolation at the hostel and necessary medical assistance is being provided by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Efforts are on to trace their contacts.

Besides XIMB hostel (Studio), the BMC has also imposed containment restrictions at G-3, Netaji Subas Enclave, Gadakan; Flat No-118, Kharvela East View Apartment, Patia; Laxmi Residency, Hanspal.

The civic body had earlier also declared 17 micro-containment zones to check the spread of the virus. In total, 51 micro-containment zones have emerged in the capital city in the last few days amid a spike in COVID cases.

Odisha witnessed the biggest single-day spike with 3,679 new cases in the last 24 hours with Khurda reporting the highest of 1233 cases followed by Sundargarh (582), Sambalpur (372) and Cuttack (310).

Notably, the BMC had sealed the XIMB campus in March last year after 28 staff and students have tested positive for COVID-19.
