Mumbai: Yami Gautam and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, recently indulged in some playful social media banter after he teased the actor over her upcoming role as a ‘Daayan’.
Yami was quick to respond to his remark, turning the exchange into a light-hearted moment that caught fans’ attention.
On Wednesday, Yami announced her upcoming film ‘Nayyi Navelli’ on social media.
Sharing the film’s announcement post on Instagram, Aditya jokingly wrote, “So this is what I married into!”
Yami was quick to hit back with a witty response, addressing Aditya as “writer saahab” and saying, “Hahaha…. writer saahab…aap filmon mein try kyun nahin karte. Intezar kijiye 16 October ka.”
She also shared the film’s synopsis, which read, “Nayyi Navelli: A picture-perfect bride transforms a chaotic Meerut household into a slice of heaven…until her brother-in-law suspects that things may not be as perfect as they seem! The ideal bahu could very well be an evil force from an outer world!! Can this family survive her?”
The film is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma under Colour Yellow, with Balaji Mohan serving as the director. Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma have penned the screenplay.
A few days ago, in an interview with Filmfare, Yami reflected on her debut, saying that although it was successful, it was considered “unconventional” as she “hadn’t been launched as the typical heroine”.
She added that this perception influenced the kind of roles and projects she was subsequently offered.
After years of waiting for the right opportunities, Yami admitted that she had nearly lost hope of continuing her acting career when ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ came her way in 2019.
“Just before Uri and Bala, I had made peace with leaving the industry altogether. I thought I’d return to Himachal. We have farmland there. I imagined beginning a completely different life. My parents were incredibly supportive. They simply said, ‘Come home.’ And strangely, the moment I stopped clinging to the industry out of fear, everything changed. Uri happened. Bala happened. Life changed almost overnight,” Yami said.
This year, Yami won the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Article 370.’
Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ also achieved major box-office success, reportedly crossing the ₹3,000 crore mark globally.
