New Delhi: Flood alert has been sounded again in Delhi with the Yamuna flowing at 206.31 metres, a slightly above the danger mark of 205.33 metres, by 4 pm on Sunday.
“Yamuna River water level is rising sharply. Please stay away from areas near the river,” the authorities announced in the afternoon.

This increase is being attributed to the discharge of more than 2 lakh cusecs of water from Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana after heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Those residing in low-lying areas have been asked to evacuate.
After reaching an all-time high of 208.66 metre, the Yamuna had been receding gradually and the water level dropped below the danger mark at 8pm on July 18 after flowing above the threshold for eight days when several places in the national capital grappled with waterlogging and flood-like situations.
